# Licensing RustBox is copyright © 2026 Mateusz Gruszczyński ([linuxiarz.pl](https://linuxiarz.pl)). RustBox is **dual-licensed**. ## Open source: GNU AGPL v3 RustBox is free software released under the **GNU Affero General Public License, version 3** (`AGPL-3.0-only`). The full text is in [`LICENSE`](LICENSE). You may use, study, modify and share RustBox free of charge, privately or in a company, as long as you follow the AGPL. Most importantly: if you run a **modified** RustBox as a network service, you must offer the users of that service the corresponding source code of your modified version under the same license. Running an unmodified RustBox — for yourself, your family, your company or your customers — needs nothing more than keeping the license and copyright notices intact. ## Commercial license Organisations that cannot or do not want to meet the AGPL's obligations — for example to keep their own modifications private while offering RustBox as a service, or to ship it as part of a proprietary product — can obtain a **paid commercial license** with terms agreed individually. Contact: **[linuxiarz@linuxiarz.pl](mailto:linuxiarz@linuxiarz.pl)** Getting in touch is voluntary: a commercial license is never required for use that complies with the AGPL. Companies that use RustBox under the AGPL and want to support its development are equally welcome to write. ## Contributions So that RustBox can stay available under both licenses, contributions are accepted only when the contributor agrees that they may be distributed under the AGPL v3 as well as under commercial licenses issued by the copyright holder. ## Third-party notices The first version of RustBox was created as a fork of [Oxi](https://github.com/c0h1b4/oxi) (MIT License). See [`NOTICE.md`](NOTICE.md) for the attribution and the MIT notice that applies to the parts that originate from Oxi. Third-party Rust crates are used under their own licenses as declared in `Cargo.lock`.
